Théâtre lyrique/Opéra paysan

In the intimacy of a dressing room, two women, a pianist and a soprano, talk, sing, dance and laugh. A third presence emerges through their words, that of an opera singer whose subtle portrait they will draw. Sensitive recollections, poetic meditations, the creation of operatic roles, accounts of theater and life, and interpretations of the greatest soprano arias all intertwine to shed light on Emma Calvé?s extraordinary destiny. What kind of fighting spirit, what kind of life force is the immense Aveyron singer trying to transmit to us across the century?

This musical, written and directed by Justine Wojtyniak, is all about joie de vivre and wild enthusiasm. Two artistic residencies marked the creation of L?Oiseau que tu croyais surprendre battit de l?aile et s?envola: in February 2024 at the Musée de Millau et des Grands Causses (Mumig) and in October 2024 at the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple.
