A string section par Reckless sleppers
As part of the La grande Confluence festival
Dance so British, so punk
Five chairs, five saws and five women dressed in black dresses who walk and then stand facing us. They look at us, sit down and finally start to play, sawing their own chairs until they fall over. This absurd gesture becomes a hypnotic ritual, a score of tensions, squeaks and imbalances.
Part dance, part visual theater, part living installation, the piece explores the self-sabotage, gravity and elegance of struggle.
Wordless and accessible to all, this so-British performance leaves a lasting impression.
Reckless Sleepers
Reckless Sleepers is an English company founded in 1988, taking its name from a painting by Belgian surrealist René Magritte, "Le Dormeur téméraire". The company, or rather the project, was born of a multitude of ideas and concerns, misfires, accidents and opportunities.
