Micro-musée des fours à chaux
Discover the industrial and working-class heritage on the border between Causse and Ségala. Open from May to October.
The former quarry, renamed La Mélangeuse, is located near the Villeneuve d'Aveyron railway station. This eight-hectare industrial complex bears witness to the rural history of limestone extraction (fat lime and limestone limestone), which fertilized thousands of hectares of farmland.
The lime kilns, the largest in the area, and the former silt factory are part of a 2,000m2 complex of buildings.
The aim of the association, in a sober-minded approach, is to offer a local dynamic through a variety of media linked to socio-cultural, environmental and heritage issues. The association's project revolves around: the practice and transmission of arts and crafts; the ecological transition and environmental education; the hosting of entrepreneurs and associations; and the history of rural working-class memory through the presence of an industrial heritage on site.
A number of projects are currently underway focusing on the history and development of the industrial heritage of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Every year, La Barrejaire takes part in the Journées du Patrimoine de Pays et des Moulins.
