📍 Roquefort-sur-Soulzon
Ladders Trail
Exceptional panoramas of the Larzac plateau, the Tournemire cirque, and the village of Roquefort crown this hike following in the footsteps of the pastoral life of bygone days.
In the past, an employee from the Mas de Roquefort farm would bring a meal to the shepherd who grazed his ewes on the Combalou plateau. He used a shortcut thanks to two ladders fixed to the cliffside. This is where the trail gets its name, rich in discoveries such as the Saut de Bailhol fault, the Combalou “jasse” (shepherd’s shelter), and the 11th-century Saint-Pierre chapel perched on its spur.
