Camping Car Park
Aubin CAMPING-CAR PARK with 17 pitches. Water, electricity, wifi and drainage are available.
40 km north-west of Rodez, visit the town of Aubin, located in the north of the Aveyron department! A mining town, the rocks extracted in the region have shaped the town's landscape and buildings over the centuries. Dominated by the remains of its medieval fort, Aubin is a historic town with a recognized architectural heritage, with no fewer than 5 sites listed as historic monuments. These include 3 churches. Stroll through the town center and admire the Romanesque-Gothic Notre-Dame d'Aubin church, listed in 1942 (key available from the Cransac Tourist Office), the contemporary Notre-Dame-des-Mines church, listed in 2002 (3km away, in the Combes district), and the neo-Gothic Notre-Dame du Gua church, listed two years later (exterior only). Have fun comparing these three completely different styles! In addition to these religious buildings, the two other listed monuments are also well worth a visit: from the parking area, admire the factory chimneys dating from 1870 and the Jules Ferry school in Le Gua, built between 1876 and 1880 and still in use today.
The town lies in a valley carved out by the river Enne, so you can enjoy breathtaking panoramas as you stroll through its streets. And it all starts at the aerie! Put down your fishing rod or take a tour of the Plan d?eau du Gua, right in the heart of the town, or visit the Musée de la Mine, which will tell you all about the glorious past of the region?s mining basin.
If you want to get out of town, Aubin is the starting point for a number of hiking trails! Head off in search of the most beautiful hillside viewpoints, or head deep into the heart of the Vaysse forest to contemplate the local flora and fauna.
The region also boasts a thermal spa in nearby Cransac, which cures rheumatism and arthritis thanks to a natural underground combustion phenomenon releasing hot sulfurous gases... unique in Europe!
